Meet your local guide and driver at your hotel in Sapa, then begin the journey north along National Road 4C toward O Quy Ho. Along the way, stop at several viewpoints to admire the magnificent scenery of Fansipan, Sin Chai Valley, and the flower and vegetable farms that make this part of Sapa especially beautiful. Local Sapa tourism material also highlights O Quy Ho, Ban Khoang, and Ta Giang Phinh as scenic day-trip areas from Sapa.
We then turn onto a smaller road and continue for around 30 minutes through a wild mountain region covered with thick forest, passing several waterfalls before arriving at Ban Khoang, a village of the Red Dao people. The village is known for its traditional way of life and its productive landscape, where terraced rice cultivation is combined with cardamom farming in the forest. Spend more than an hour walking around the village to gain a better understanding of local life. Ban Khoang is identified by tourism sources as part of the Ban Khoang – Ta Giang Phinh Sapa tourism area and as a Red Dao and H’mong village zone.
After leaving Ban Khoang, continue by road for about 10 km to Ta Giang Phinh Valley, an area inhabited by the Black H’mong people living in small villages along a peaceful stream. Enjoy a lunch break on the stream bank before beginning the afternoon walk along village paths connecting one settlement to another. Along the way, observe local daily activities such as ploughing, harrowing, growing crops, harvesting, house work, and traditional textile making. Tourism sources describe Ta Giang Phinh as a quieter, less-visited valley area with beautiful rice terraces and ethnic minority villages.
The walk ends in the middle of the afternoon, when the vehicle will pick you up for the road transfer back to Sapa.
