ITINERARY
Phong Nha Town - Phong Nha Cave - Phong Nha Town

08:00 Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Phong Nha Town and transfer you to the cave entrance.

09:00–09:30 Meet your expedition team for a tour briefing, safety instructions, and equipment fitting before the adventure begins.

10:00 Practice basic kayaking techniques before paddling into Phong Nha Cave. Journey through the first 3km of the underground river, passing spectacular limestone chambers and illuminated formations before entering the darker sections of the cave.

11:00 Leave the kayaks and begin a 1.5km trek across ancient rock formations, exploring hidden passages and vast underground chambers.

13:00 Arrive at the secluded Xuyen Son Lake, where you'll have time to swim in the crystal-clear waters surrounded by the cave's dramatic limestone walls.

13:30 Enjoy a picnic lunch in a unique underground setting before continuing the expedition.

14:00 Retrace your route on foot and by kayak, paddling back through the magnificent underground river.

15:00 Stop to explore several dry cave chambers and admire centuries-old Champa inscriptions, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region's cultural history.

15:30 Return to the cave entrance and transfer back to your hotel in Phong Nha Town. Trip concludes.

1. Caving Notes

  • Exploration Distance: Approximately 4.5 km inside Phong Nha Cave, including 3 km by kayak and 1.5 km on foot.
  • Environment: Phong Nha Cave is one of the world's largest river caves, featuring a spectacular underground river, towering limestone chambers, ancient stalactites, and hidden passages formed over millions of years. The first section of the cave is naturally illuminated, while the deeper chambers are in complete darkness, creating a unique and immersive caving experience. The highlight of the expedition is Xuyen Son Lake, a crystal-clear underground lake surrounded by dramatic limestone walls.
  • Safety Notes: Swimming is permitted only at Xuyen Son Lake and only under the supervision of your guide. Touching or climbing on stalactites, stalagmites, and other delicate cave formations is strictly prohibited. Keep all personal belongings in a waterproof dry bag.

2. Food & Water

  • Meal: A picnic lunch is served inside the cave, offering a truly unique dining experience in one of Vietnam’s most extraordinary natural settings. The meal is simple yet well-balanced, with a generous variety of food and ample portions to keep you energized throughout the day’s outdoor adventure. 
  • Water & Energy: Clean, safe drinking water and energy-boosting snacks (such as fresh fruits or local treats) are supplied daily during the tour.
