The journey begins with a short drive south from Sapa toward Muong Hoa Valley, the largest terraced rice field area in the region.
The walk starts near the famous ancient rock field, first brought to wider attention by a French researcher in 1925. This area contains many carved stones scattered across Hau Thao and Ta Van communes, and their mysterious symbols have fascinated both local and international researchers for decades.
After spending some time discovering the rock field, continue along a dirt trail descending toward a rattan bridge, a waterfall, and Giang Ta Chai Village, home to the Red Dao people. This part of the trek offers stunning views of Muong Hoa Valley and also provides a chance to learn more about local life through a visit to a Red Dao house.
The trek then continues toward Su Pan Village, inhabited by the Black H’mong people, before climbing up to the main road where the vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Sapa.
