08:00 Leave Sapa in the morning by vehicle and travel south along a narrow mountain road. The first section of the drive offers spectacular views of the Hoang Lien Mountain Range, Fansipan, and the terraced rice fields of Muong Hoa Valley. We make several photo stops before enjoying a short walk around Hoa Su Pan, a small hamlet of the Black H’mong, where you can visit local homes and observe daily life. Muong Hoa Valley is one of Sapa’s signature landscapes and is well known for its terraced scenery.
Continue the journey farther south to Muong Bo Valley in Thanh Phu Commune. Here, enjoy another walk along a large village path and visit several homes of the Tay people, who traditionally live in spacious stilt houses. Lunch is served at a local home or outdoors on the grass, depending on the weather.
After lunch, take a short drive along a rocky road to My Son, where you will spend some time exploring this charming village of the Xa Pho people. Sapa tourism materials identify the Xa Pho as one of the ethnic minority groups living in the Sapa area.
The journey then continues for about 10 km to Nam Cang Commune, where you will visit Nam Than Village, a beautiful and prosperous village of the Red Dao people. This part of the route also offers lovely scenery over Nam Sai Valley. Nam Cang is noted in tourism sources as a Red Dao area and one of the community-based tourism destinations farther from central Sapa.
In the middle of the afternoon, leave Nam Cang and drive back to Sapa by the same road.
